Ticks and Trips for windows 7

How to hide/unhide a logical drive in Windows 7 operating system?

(Windows 7 environment)

If we require to put some important information from being seen by others that use our system, we may do it by hiding that particular logical drive, which that important information is stored in. Again we can unhide the logical drive that we hid when we want. Here only we are hiding the drive, that's all, not deleting.

To hide a logical drive
Right-click on My computer icon on the desktop and select Manage, where you will be led to Computer Management window.
Here options are seen on the left side of the screen.
Select disk management, which is in Storage section.
All the details of the logical drives will be shown on the right space as shown in the picture below.

Now right-click on the drive, which you want to hide and select Change drive letter paths.
Press Remove in the following window.
You're done.
Now go to my computer and check for the drive that you hid, it won't be there.

To unhide the logical drive you already hid
Go to Computer Management as said earlier
Select Storage >disc management
Select Change drive letter and paths by right-click on the particular logical drive, which you want to unhide, that already hidden.
Press Add in the following window and in the next window choose the drive letter, which the drive had earlier and press ok.
Now go and check out the drive for, you will find the drive is shown back.
